The meetings of the Tuesday Club take place on Tuesday evenings between 6:30 and 9:00 pm throughout the year at the Café de la Place in Callac, except when Sophie and Loïc - the very friendly owners - are on holiday of course!
We chose the Café de la Place as our current regular venue as it is central, convenient both to the members who live in Callac and to those who live in the villages nearby, but also because we can relax there in the warm ambiance of the convivial café, maybe over a hot drink, a soft drink or a glass of wine and even some nibbles.
Now that restrictions on bars, cafes and restaurants have eased, we have restarted Tuesday Club. This is held as before at Café de la Place, Callac, both because the venue is very popular with association members, and because we would like to support owners Sophie and Loic as they get back on their feet after a long enforced shutdown. There are some "barrier gestures" to observe. We need to use hand gel and face masks on entry and when paying on leaving, and wear face masks when moving around the Café but they will not be required when we are seated at the table where we tend to spend the majority of the evening. Finally, although Tuesday Club has up until now been available for association members to just turn up on the night, and we do of course want people to feel they can join at a later date if they don't feel ready to straightaway, current restrictions - most notably that tables are limited to a maximum of 10 people - mean that we will need to know who is coming in advance each week so we can arrange things with Sophie and Loic.
No need to arrive sharp on time, we arrive whenever we can. This is the whole idea : to come whenever we can on a Tuesday evening when we are free and feel like meeting other members of the Association on an informal basis.
Attending the Tuesday Club is a very good excuse to get out and chat together on whatever topic takes our fancy, but always in a friendly and respectful way. At the moment, conversation is mainly in English as very few French people come on a regular basis - but if you know any French people who would like to join, do please suggest they come along... We would like the Tuesday Club to be a good opportunity for everyone to practise both French and English.
